Bill Helin© "The Orca" Velura Throw Blanket - Tsimshian
Bring warmth and culture into your home with this unique super-soft Velura™ throw, printed with licensed Bill Helin© life crest Orca design. PLEASE NOTE: This item is not due back in until second week of January 2025.
Blankets have always been an integral part of North American life from their early use as clothing and shelter to their trading value as a form of barter exchange. In honor of these traditions, the Tsimshian Life crest designs by Bill Helin has been recreated on these ultra-soft Velura™ throws.
In Tsimshian mythology, each symbol has a powerful meaning. The Orca or Killer Whale symbolizes family, romance, longevity, harmony, travel, community, and protection. He is said to protect those who travel away from home, and lead them back when the time comes. The Killer Whales live like wolves, mate for life and raise each child with care. They also travel in large groups of families, working together to protect all members of their pod.
