Batik Rayon Kurti Tunic - Magenta Batik
Handmade Kurti Tunic with beautiful Batik Cap pattern in a very soft rayon. Light and breezy. Collarless with a slit on each side. Loose fit. Can wear with or without a belt over shorts, crops, pants, or as bathing suit cover.
Indonesian artisans transfer batik patterns onto the fabric. These stamping blocks are constructed from hundreds of small pieces of copper which have been carefully shaped by hand to create an intricate pattern and then soldered into place.
Due to the handcrafted nature of this product, slight imperfections in the prints make each piece unique. Also, colors may slightly differ from image above (i.e., lighter, darker but same color family).
We recommend getting a size larger than you would normally wear to give more room at the bust line.

About Batik Cap:
The batik artisan will dip the copper block into a wax pan and then align the block onto the fabric. This process is repeated until the design has covered the desired part of the fabric.
Once stamping has finished, the next step is to color the fabric by dipping it into a big container containing dye. Only parts of the fabric not covered by the stamped wax will be coloured in this process.
Upon dyeing, the fabric is hung to dry before the next stage takes place - peeling off the wax to reveal the final colours of the batik fabric.
In a single layer batik cap, the colour combination is made up of the dyed parts of the fabric as well as the plain parts of the fabric which were previously covered by wax. Multi-colour combinations can be achieved by repeating the batik cap process and using different colour per layer.
While the Batik Cap technique is not as exhaustive as Batik Tulis, it still requires a tremendous amount of training, skills and precision. A piece of Batik Cap fabric can take up to three weeks to complete.
